Introduction
I am a great tarot reader!!!!!!! I will explain the meaning of the cards, somewhat. I will also explain spreads and decks. You will learn about my accuracy. What is the difference between intuition and the mathematical method? Can playing cards be used for divination?
Meaning
Each card has a certain meaning. Tarot cards are made up of the major & minor arcana. The major arcana are the big face cards. There are 22 cards in that section. They represent long term life changes or situations. The cards are numbered. Some of the cards are as follows: fool, hermit. sun, moon. devil, and death. The minor arcana are the small face cards and there are 4 suites. Each suite represents different elements. The minor arcana represent short term life changes or situations. Some of these cards are court cards. They are page, knight, queen, and king. Some of the cards are as follows: 2 of wands, 5 of cups, 7 of swords, and knight of pentacles. Cards reversed have the opposite meanings to upright cards, somewhat.
Major Arcana
Fool: Innocence, potentiality, and stupidity. Think of it as a new born baby.
Hermit: Inner guidance, wisdom, and loneliness. Obi-Wan Kenobi looks like him.
Sun: Success, vitality, fun, and sadness.
Moon: Subconscious, intuition, and repressed emotions.
Devil: Sexuality, addition, bondage, materialism, and detachment. It is not the literal devil.
Death: Ending, new beginning, transformation, and resistance to change. It is not literal death, don't believe the movies that show someone dying after the reader pulled the Death card. The movie creators don't understand the tarot.
Minor Arcana
2 of Wands: Making a decision, discovery, and personal goals.
5 of Cups: Failure, regret. and forgiveness.
7 of Swords: Deception, betrayal, keeping secrets.
Knight of Pentacle: Hard-work, routine, and boredom.
Spreads
They are the way you lay down the cards. Each position means something. A 3 card spread could mean past, present, and future. The Celtic Cross may be the most common spread. The reading could deal with your current situation or past/future. I will explain the spreads I created.
Elemental: The positions are earth, water, air, and fire. Earth represents your possessions or body. Water is your emotional state. Air is your thoughts or knowledge. Fire is your actions or motivation. I lay the cards next to each other.
Seasonal: Spring is what's starting. Summer is what reached maturity. Fall is what's dying. Winter is what's dead. I put the first card up, 2nd card to the right, 3rd card down, and last card left.
Directional: North is the past or ancestors. East is the energy you giving. South is the future or descendants. West is the energy you receiving. I lay the cards the same as above.
You can create your own spreads too.
Deck
Rider-Waite: This deck was published in 1909. Most other decks are based on this one. I memorized the meaning of all the cards in the deck. Then I forget them, once I got a new deck. I call them the Europeans, because its images are European. Click here if you want to purchase this deck.
Rider-Waite: This deck was published in 1909. Most other decks are based on this one. I memorized the meaning of all the cards in the deck. Then I forget them, once I got a new deck. I call them the Europeans, because its images are European. Click here if you want to purchase this deck.
Melanin: This was the 2nd deck I got. It's symbolism is African. The queens are stronger than kings in this deck. This deck can be bought as a set. In the set you get the cards with a book that explain the meaning. I like this deck more than the Rider-Waite deck, because of the African symbolism. Click here if you want to purchase this deck.
Hoodoo: This is the last deck I got. It has hoodoo symbolism. It comes as a set; you get the book of meanings with the cards. This deck is super sweet because the ancestors of my tribe created Hoodoo. Click here if you want to purchase this deck.
I want 2 buy the Vudu deck, but it is out of print. Click here if you want to learn more about it.
Accuracy
Most of the reading I did for people were 100% and it dealt with their current situation. A few readings were 80%. The accuracy of a reading can get clouded by emotion, so the reader shouldn't be so emotional. It is a great idea for readers to meditate b4 each reading.
Intuition vs Mathematical Method
Some readers just know what it means when they lay the cards down. No guess work, no figuring it out. This is an example of intuition. The mathematical method is simply adding the meaning of the card with the meaning of position. That's what I do. Emotions may cloud intuition, so be careful.
Playing Cards
They are similar to the minor arcana with a few differences. The symbols are different, but they represent the same 4 elements. The court cards are different. There's a Jack instead of a Page and a Knight. They can be used the same way tarot cards are used. I learned about this @ Conjure Fest.
Conclusion
Each card has a meaning. Spreads are the way you lay the cards down. Each position the cards are in has a meaning. There are many different decks, but most are based on the Rider-Waite deck. Readings can be very accurate. Intuition is the way to go. Until then use the mathematical method. Playing cards can be used the same way tarot cards are used. You should get a reading from me, because I am rarely wrong.
