I am creating a blog to open people’s minds to new ideas. It will be about my many interests such as astrology, astronomy, finances, science, history, mythology, religion, etc. I will also accept ideas from other people.
Introduction
This language family is in Southeast Asia, India, and China. It was created over 4,000 years ago. It has 2 main branches and 169 languages. It has different scripts 4 writing. Millions people speak these languages. It has its own phonological and grammatical characteristics.
History
These languages is spoken by over 60 million people! Most Austroasiatic speakers may have common ancestors 10,000 years ago in China. They have ancestry with Austronesian, Sino-Tibetan, Hmong-Mien people 35,000 years ago!!! They are more distantly related to Melanesians and (native) Americans. Sum of them moved into India 10,000 years ago.
2 Stems and Many Flowers
The stems are Munda and Mon-Khmer. Munda has 22 languages and they were influenced by Indo-Aryan languages. Mon-Khmer has 147 languages and it was influenced by Chinese languages. The most popular Mon-khmer languages are Vietnamese and Khmer. Khmer is spoken in Cambodia. Munda languages are spoken in India and Bangladesh. Sum of those languages are endangered because they don't have a lot of speakers. These languages have many dialects.
Phonological Characteristics
These languages has many vowels, but most don't have tones. Sum vowels are said differently. Most words are one sound. There are constants @ the end of words. Mon-Khmer languages have a 2 constant syllable in the beginning of sum of their words. The words of these languages are rhythmic. The Khmer language has 36 vowels!!!
Grammatical Characteristics
Munda languages have a complex morphology and Vietnamese doesn't have one @ all! Most Austroasiatic languages have infixes, affixes, and prefixes. These languages also have expressives. They describe sensory perceptions and emotions.
The sentence structure 4 Mon-Khmer languages is subject-verb-object. The sentence structure 4 Munda languages is subject-object-verb, because it was influenced by Dravidian languages. There is no word 4 be in these languages.
Sum of the vocabulary of these languages were borrowed from other languages. Examples: Vietnamese borrowed words from Mandarin. Mon from Sanskrit and Khmer from Pali. A lot of the original vocabulary was lost. But, I think the Munda retained most of it.
Scripts
There are 4 main alphabets 4 this language family. They are Khmer, Thai, Lao, and Burmese. They are many minor alphabets as well. The Vietnamese script is based on the ancient Chinese writing. There have been alphabets created using the Latin alphabet. Speakers
The Munda live in India and Bangladesh. They weave and create baskets. There religion is Sarnaism; it has a creator and earth goddess. The Sal tree and sacred groves are important. They mixed Sarnaism with Hinduism.
The Khmer tribe rule Cambodia. They created the first written language of Austroasiatic language family. Most of them follow Theravada Buddhism. They believe they came from a Brahmin and a celestial nymph. They created an empire and Angkor Wat.
Mon people have the same ancestors as the Khmer. Most of them live in Myanmar. They founded ancient civilizations in Thailand and Laos. The British helped the Mon people defeat the Burmen monarchy. They want their own country. There script is based on "Indic scripts". They do spiritual dances and play many different instruments.
Nicobarese live on 19 island off the coast of Bengal. They have their own form of shamanism and they like Christianity. There are 3 spheres of life: sky, earth, and sea. They know everything has a spirit.
There are many other Austroasiatic people, but this will suffice. Conclusion
The Austroasiatic language family is over 4,000 years old! It is spoken by many people. It is composed of 2 branches: Munda and Khmer-Mon. It is the only language family I know of with expressive. The languages have been influenced by Indian and Chinese languages. They have created their own scripts 4 writing. There are many different types of Austroasiatic people and they all are amazing!!!!
Introduction
I ate over 6 different dishes from 9 different countries. Most of the time I was there, kids danced on stage. Three African men spoke about their countries and customs. There were some strange occurrences. I went last year as well.
Dishes
Everyone got 8 free tickets for food or drink after they signed in.
Thai-I ate noodles, rice, vegetables, and chicken. I added spicy and and sweet sauce. I was the best meal!
Caribbean-Chicken, rice, beans, chickpeas, etc. It was spicy. This food was from 4 countries!!! I also drunk sum juice.
Lebanese-Pita Bread, chicken, beef, vegetables, humus, and garlic sauce.
Mexican-Steak taco, rice & beans. It was sweet. Drunk a bottle of water as well.
Ethiopian-A meat and vegetable wrap.
Jamaican-Red beans and rice, cabbage, with meat (chicken or beef).
I enjoyed all the meals.
I didn't eat the U.S. food and Indian-Pakistani food.
Kids
There were a lot of kids there. They got on stage and danced most of the time I was there. They had a blast. There was even a dance contest! Good dancers got sum $ from a Moor!!!!!! The best dancer was a gray girl and she didn't get any $.
Strange Occurrences
A young woman walked by me and rubbed her ass on my neck. She said sorry, but I know she did on purpose. I assume she was ovulating and wanted to impregnate her ( subconsciously of course). I should got her #, but I wasn't thinking. She's pretty and I've would enjoyed practicing baby making with her.
A mentally ill lady got on stage while the kids were dancing and she twerked. The DJ told her to stop because kids was there. She stopped and tried to dance with the kids. Then she danced by herself and got off stage. This happened right b4 the dance contest.
Last Year
I had most of the same dishes, but I had Soul food and Yemeni food (Lamb shanks, Yellow Rice, etc). They didn't have that this year. I also ate Indian-Pakistani food. But, I didn't eat the the U.S. food. They had more Carribean food this year.
Introduction
They have a long rich history. The Hmong language is a member of Sino-Tibetan language family. They have a wonderful and amazing culture. A lot of Hmong people live in United States. They had great success and face several challenges in the states.
History
Ancient: Their ancestors lived near the Yangtze River about 4500 years ago. Their kingdom was taken over and they became different tribes. The members of the Han tribe called them the Jui Li and they had 9 clans. They made clothes out of hemp.
The Han may have learned civilization from the Jui Li. There were many battles between the Han and the Jui Li, but the Han won in the end and took over the land. The Jui Li moved south to avoid them, but later on they had to fight them again. Whenever the Han would defeat the Jui Li they would relocate. That happened quite a bit. It's like they were being bullied.
The Xia dynasty mistreated the Jui Li as well. The Jui Li got along with the Shang dynasty, but were attacked by the Chou. The Jui Li and the Han joined forces to defeat the Mongols during the Yuan dynasty. After that, the Jui Li was mistreated again by the Ming dynasty.
Their society had an internal and external organizations. The internal dealt with socioeconomic issues and laws. The external dealt with military, defense, and protection. There was a religious organization that had drum festivals and they sacrificed buffalos. They were swidden and rice farmers and bean growers. They also had pigs, oxen, and chicken.
Leaving China: The Hmong were oppressed by Qing dynasty, in response to this they rebelled a lot. Qing massacred and enslaved a lot of Hmong people, so in the 19th century many of them left China and moved into Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. But, 2.7 million Hmong or more still live in China.
Language
Their language is tonal. This language is spoken by 4 million people! Over 200,000 people speak it in the U.S. There are various dialects of Hmong. Red and Black Hmong is spoken by half of them. The 2 that are spoken in the states is White and Green Hmong. The Hmong had written language in the past; but the Qing made it illegal for them to write it, because of that they forgot it after that. In 1959 Shong Lue Yang created Pahawh. It is a written language 4 Hmong. Other scripts have been used for the them as well. They were Chinese, Lao, Thai, Vietnamese, and Russian.
Culture
Clans: There are 18 of them. A child is a member of their father's clan. The clans provide 'legal authority, social support, and economic security.' People in the same clan can't marry each other.
Marriages: After women marry they become a part of their husband clan. After she dies she is worshipped by her husband's children. They have arranged marriages, but b4 someone get married they can have sex with whoever they like. That's amazing!!!!!! Men marry women when they get them pregnant. A groom family give the bride family animals and silver. It's called a dowry. Women should never be objectified!!!!!! Most people get married when they're teenagers. Most of them are monogamous, but sum are polygamous. They big on polygeny. If the husband dies the wife is married off to his oldest brother; if he don't want her another clan member marries her. The wedding takes place in the bride's house and than the groom's house. Sometimes women are kidnapped and forced into marriage, but not a lot.
Funeral: When someone dies their soul breaks up into 3 parts. One part says in the grave, one part protects the home, and another part joins the ancestors. The deceased are cremated and the funeral last 3 days. Men from the deceased household go to the funeral. Songs help the guide the spirit to the to the afterlife. 13 days after the person died a ceremony is held so that soul can protect the house.
Gender Roles: Women take care of all the household duties and farming taks. Men have farming tasks as well. The mother-in-law tells the wife what to do. The life of a wife can be tough. Men tend to get drunk and smoke opium. Some women encourage their husbands to get another wife, so they can help with the duties. The women are great making textiles and clothes!!!
Family: Most households have 11 people in them. In Laos a son moves out when he is married. In other countries son stay in the house until they are financially stable. Fathers help raise the children. Kids help out in farming. Boys are taught hunting and customs. Girls are taught weaving, singing, and more by their moms. The Hmong don't go to school in Southeast Asia.
Shamanism: Hmong spiritual practices are similar to the Siberians. Shamans cure people of illnesses caused by spirits. They do this by going into a trance. They have a magickal horse they can ride. There is a leader to upper world that shaman can climb. Their chants help them get cures from spirits in the upper world. Shamans make sure a spirits of the deceased don't become evil. Spirits of the deceased can aid in curing diseases.
Art: The women make great textiles. Sum of which are called story cloths.
Music: Many of their songs have poetry in it. The have possession songs, weeping songs, invocation songs, invitation songs, wishing songs, and storytelling songs. They also have love songs, bride songs, wedding songs, orhapan songs, and separation songs. The bride's song is about her sadness of leaving her family after marriage. Sum their musical instruments are reed pipes, jaw harps, and banana leaves.
Clothing: Different clans wear different colored clothes. The Black Hmong wear hemp clothing that has indigo dye on it. The Flower Hmong wear bright colors. The Hmong have embroidered patterns that remind me of Adinkra symbols!!!!
Festivals: New Year-They wear traditional clothing; and they sing, dance, bull fight, and eat traditional food. Girls and boys play a ball game. Spirits of wealth and the home are venerated. This celebration last 4 three days. Each day there are 10 different dishes. This is a great holiday!!!!!!!!!
Cuisine: There food has a lot of herbs and spices. They eat meat, vegetables, and rice. They love hot sauce!!!! My people do too. They make deserts 4 special occasions and their food is healthy.
Hmong in the U.S. (include challenges)
Over 200,000 of them live in the U.S. They were least Westernized Southeast Asian refugees, but they may be the most successful! They were illiterate when they got to the U.S., now they are professors, doctors, and lawyers. They own many restaurants in Michigan, farms in Southern U.S., music studios, malls, etc.
Sum Hmong still practice their old traditions, which sometimes lead to legal problems. Some shamans practice rituals @ the hospital 4 Hmong patients. The Hmong don't like surgery, blood transfusion, and anesthesia because it goes against their beliefs. Hmong hunters and white hunters clashed in the past.
Some of them were impoverished and engaged in gang warfare. Some of them became homicidal and/or suicidal. They have most mental illness among Southeast Asians in the U.S. This is because they came from a very traditional society.
Conclusion
I love Hmong!!!!! They have a rich history and a complex culture. They have become very successful in the U.S. There problems in the states come from culture shock and lack of economic opportunities.
Introduction
These languages were created in Australia by a group of people commonly called Aborigines. But, I call them Australians because they were the first people in Australia. There are over 300 Australian languages in 28 different language families. Tasmanians used to exist. They had their own languages. Torres Strait Islanders have their own language as well.
Languages
I will list sum of the languages. They are as followed: Luritja, Warlpiri, Tiwi, Pintupi, Maung, Burrara, Kija, Bardi, etc. Luritja speakers are great artists! Warlpiri has 6 vowels and all the words end in vowels. A word in Tiwi can be a sentence in English and it has 11 verbal categories. Pintupi is taught in schools and has 17 consonants. Maung is also taught in school. Burrara has several dialects. Kija is spoken by 100 people. Bardi as less than 10 speakers. Australian languages are spoken by over 40,000 people.
Families
There are 35 language families of Australian languages. I will list some: Wardaman, Jarrakan, Greater Pam-Nyungan, Daly. etc. Wardaman language is unrelated to other Australian languages and 50 people speak it. Jarakkan consists of Kija, Miriwoong, and Gajirrabeng. Gajirrabeng only has 3 or 4 speakers. Greater Pam-Nyungan is the biggest language family in Australia. It has 300 languages. Daly is a group of language families spoken by Daly River.
Tasmanian Languages
These languages were spoken by Tasmanians. They no longer exist, because they were wiped out by English. There may have been 4 language families in Tasmania. Tasmania a Island off the coast of Australia.
Torrest Strait Island Languages
There are 2 languages and 6 dialects on this island. One of the languages is named Meriam Mer. It is similar to Melanesian languages. This language has 2 dialects. The other language spoken there is Kala Lagaw Ya; it has 4 dialects. It is related to Australian languages. The people of this island are Melanesian. They have been influenced by Paupuan, Austronesian, and Australian peoples.
Conclusion
Australian languages are amazing!!! There are so many of them and quite a few language families. Tasmanians were Australian people that lived in Tasmania. They had their own languages, which had a lot of diversity. Torrest Strait Island languages are spoken by Melanesian people that live on/near Australia.
Introduction
I had several paranormal experiences growing up. When I was 10 a UFO flew over my house. I've seen a red orb in the living room when I was 12. I saw a small red dragon over my bed when I was 19. I had dreams that came true: pissing and microwave explosion. I dreamed about people close to me after they died. I had odd experiences when I slept in the bed with nephew.
UFO
The UFO that flew over my house was a black triangle with 3 white circles under it. It's called the TR3B. It has a nuclear reactor 4 a engine. A soldier told me it was a classified military plane. The government reverse engineers alien technology. I assume that is what's going on @ Area 51. I read the F-117 and B-2 has reverse-engineered alien technology on it.
Orbs
After I seen the orb it vanished right after I saw it. I told my father about it; he thought it was ball lightning. Orbs may be spirits. In Shamanic Healing Class I held spirit spheres. B4 I sent a ghost into the blessing field I would get someone they loved. Then I would ask them to form into a ball and come into my hands. Maybe sum orbs are ghosts or a group of ghosts. Sometimes people don't see them, but they are captured on camera.
Interdimensional Entities
There are beings that exist in other dimensions. The dragon I saw may have been one of them. The funny thing is my favorite animal spirit is a red fire dragon. Reality is like a onion, there are many layers. There are sum places on earth that are portals to other dimensions, such as Bermuda Triangle. The Mist is a movie and later a show that deals with interdimensional entities. Scientists created a portal to another dimension; then animals from that dimension came through and attacked people. There is a show on Netflix called Stranger Things that has beings from a shadow mirror world. There is a lot of media that deals with interdimensional entities. Cern may be able to create portals to other dimensions. The D-Wave computer connects to other universes.
Dreams
When I was 5 I had a dream where I peed on myself. Than I got up and used the restroom. I also had a dream I blew up the microwave. After I woke up I asked my brother to heat up sum pizza. He was sleeping and wouldn't get up. So, I tried to heat up the pizza in the microwave. I pushed a bunch of buttons and it blew up. That's weird because I ate cold pizza when I was a kid. After my grandpa died, I had a dream he was @ the Family Reunion banquet. He wore a blue suit or a blue sports coat. After my brothers' friend Jeff died, I dreamed about him. He sat on a bed and he was in good shape. I take it to mean he is happy in the spirit world. I also a had dream about my eldest brother James after he died. He was also happy in the dream. One time I was sleeping next to my nephew and dreamed we were aliens on a spaceship. We had pink skin and looked reptoid. I thought it was a past life. Another time I slept next to my nephew I almost had an Out of Body experience. My body vibrated, then I got scared so it didn't happen. I had a dream I was in a parallel earth. I saw bigfoot and it was covered in white fur. I saw a giant lady bug covered in white fur. I called them both furries.
Conclusion
The paranormal (ghosts, aliens, and cryptozoology) exist. We were more familiar with it in the past because we were more spiritual. Since we turned our back on nature, we are less spiritual. So, we see the paranormal as weird and scary. In the past it was simply a natural part of life.
Introduction
I went to Riverdays on the weekend and had a ball. I sampled a lot of food and I bought sum as well. There were 7 major musical acts and many minor ones. I met several people and ran into people I know. I was there 4 three days and had different experiences each day. I thought there would be foodtrucks from 50 states, but sadly it wasn't. This was the largest foodtruck rally in the world. 200,000 people showed up!!!!
Friday
I sampled food from foodtrucks that were from 8 different states. They were Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Florida, New York, Louisiana, and Missouri. In that order. 5 of them was sweet, 1 of them was ok, and 2 of them wasn't so good.
The Michigan truck is called 3 Lil Pigs BBQ, LLC. I sampled mac & cheese, pulled pork with bbq sauce on it, and pickles. I enjoyed all of it. You can find them on facebook. They have a sweet menu with a lot too choose from.
The Pennsylvania truck was called Humpty Dumplings. I ate a Philly Cheese Steak dumpling. It was okay. I should have put sum hot sauce on it.
The Ohio truck is called Wicked Lobster. I got sum steamed lobster from them. I wasn't a fan.
The Georgia truck is called Chazito's. They have Puerto Rican food. I sampled roasted pork, Spanish rice, and Extra Chaz Sauce. It was dope! They also have a restaurant in Georgia.
The Florida truck is called Di Big Jerk. I sampled a chicken leg (drumstick) with jerk sauce from them. It was delicious!! You can find them on Facebook.
The New York food truck is called Dirty BBQ. I sampled sweetheat: it was a chicken tender with spicy and sweet sauces on it. It was the bomb!!!
The Louisiana truck or so I thought is called New Orleans Cajun Cooking. I sampled Jambalaya, it had too much seasoning on it. It was as bad as the lobster or worse!
The Missouri truck is called Bacon Me Crazy. I sampled a bacon cheeseburger. I was given a whole burger and I just wanted a sample. It was crazy dope and fresh!!!!!! I didn't eat it all because I was full from all the samples I ate.

There were jet ski stunts on Detroit River. I only saw a little bit of it. This one guy was on a jet pack that was fueled by water.
There 2 major music acts: The Grannies of Mary Jane and Smokey Robinson. There were a lot people there to see the acts. If you bought a ticket you could sit close up to the stage. I didn't so I set behind the gate.
The Grannies of Mary Jane real name is Mary Jane Girls, but I call them that because they are all grandmas. They sung several songs, but one song they sung was Live & Die in LA. That was my fave. Ice Cube said hello during the Grannies of Mary Jane performance. They were backup singers 4 Rick James.
Smokey Robinson sung sum of his songs and songs he wrote 4 the Temptations. One of those songs was My Girl. I bought pictures of him 4 my mom. I liked most of the minor music acts.
I met a lady from California that was collecting donations 4 abused a neglected children. That was so awesome!!!!! She was weird, she didn't know men wiped themselves. I talked to her until my uber came. A man wanted to shake her hand, but she told him she had makeup on her hands. He felt rejected so he got upset with her and wouldn't tell her his name. She really did have makeup on her hands. Saturday
I bought food from places that didn't give me samples. Most places would gave me samples, but a few of them wouldn't. I wanted to try samples from all 50 states, but only ten states was there. I only samples on Friday, I bought food the the other days.
Pollo is a food truck from Kentucky. They were only food truck from Kentucky @ Riverdays. I got to chicken tacos from them. They were okay, it should have tasted better. They specialize in chicken.
I bought a cupcake from Simply Divine Cupcakes. That foodtruck was from Indiana. I ate a cookie's 'n cream cupcake. It tasted as expected, it was delicious! The cupcake even had icing in the middle.
I went back to Chazito's from Georgia and bought a Puerto Rican platte. It consisted of roasted pork, Spanish rice, and sweet plantains. I enjoyed the meal, but couldn't eat it all because it was 2 spicy. I put sum super hot sauce on it. It made my eyez red, I cried, my hand tinkled, and my lips burned.
I ran into my cousins and one of them gave me sum water. They were on a double date. It was good to see them because I haven't seen them in a while. I texted them my blog. Early I ran into someone from the church my mom goes too. He remembered me. I rarely go to church, because I don't subscribe to that theology. I've been non-religious since 18. I like the fellowship though and the singing and dancing. It is like a concert.
There was an air show; it was somehow related to Tuskegee Airmen. Planes were doing tricks in the air. They were making circles and a trail of guess followed them wherever they went.
I bought a vanilla iced latte from a Michigan foodtruck called Coffee Rescue. I enjoyed it; it helped me be more awoke. They had at least 5 different flavors 4 iced lattes: Carmel, Butterscotch, etc. There were espresso shots and IV bags of fruit punch. I didn't get any of that.
There were 2 major musical acts. They were Brian Mcknight and Brandy Norwood. I thought he was bigger than Brandy, I was wrong. I assume Brain sung more songs than Brandy, but I'm unsure.
Brian sung about 30 songs. Most of them were from his albums. The first song he sung was Genesis. I like the songs 10,000,000 Stars, Only 1 for Me, Back @ One, and Anytime. He sung songs from singers that died: Whitney Houston, James Ingram, Prince, Maurice Wright (September), and Debarge (Switch). He has been singing professionally for 31 years!
Brandy sung several songs, but I left when I thought she was done. She was just playing she kept on singing. She wore a dress that had images of flowers on the front and a cap in the back that had a image of a Russian doll on it. She sung 3 Whitney Houston songs. Someone may have wanted her to sing I Will Always Love You. She said she didn't have the range and she proved it. She can't sing notes as high as Whitney Houston. She was the star of the hit show Moesha, it came on upn.
Drones flew over the crowd during the concert. Most likely drones from the news.
Sunday
I was with my mom on this day. The other 2 days I was by myself. She enjoyed the festivities. I bought Jerk wing dings and fries from Di Big Jerk (Floridia). I also bought grape juice 4 me and my mom. She ate a beef hot dog, which she didn't like. The wing dings were to fatty. The sample I had on Friday was better.
There was another airshow. The flew in squadrons and sum planes pretended to crash. We were under the tent when this was going on. We just got finished eating. We saw a hula hoop lady and juggler. They both did a good job but the hula hoop lady was better.
Later we listen to a rock band called Half Light. They were sweet. I bought mom their cd after the show. Then we went to the kiddie section and saw a dance off. The boy defeated the girl because when she flipped, she slipped. Otherwise she would have won. Then the kids did their favorite Fortnight dance in front of the stage.
There were 3 major musical acts. They were Bre L Leslie, Carl Thomas, and Faith Evans. A young DJ did stretching and there were young dancers. They didn't do so well. They sounded bad 4 quite a while, then they sounded better. Singers should practice b4 they come on stage.
Bre L Leslie is a Detroit native. Her songs sound good on the radio, but she sounds awful in person. She didn't sing much, she mostly danced. Most of the songs were recordings. I could listen to the radio 4 that. Singers should sing @ their concerts. What the point of hearing a recording. All the women dancing with her were thin. @ first I thought sum of them were men! She should get sum thicker dancers.
After that, a 12 year Dj came on stage and started spinning records. His Name is Dj Who. He did an amazing job, being that he is only 12. Sum young dancers came stage and start cutting a rug. Sum of the dancers were as young as 6!
Carl Thomas came on after them. The women were so happy when he got on stage. He started off bad, but he got better. He did a better job Than Bre L Leslie, because he sung all his songs. I liked the songs emotional and I wish I never met her.
Finally Faith Evans came on stage. She sounded bad @ first, so I was ready 2 go. Mom wanted to stay for 1 song, so we left on the second song. She started sounding better, so wished I stayed longer. A helicopter flew over the concert. She was the wife of Biggie Smalls and they had a son together. His name is Christopher Wallace Jr. ; he's a actor, musician, and entrepreneur.
Introduction
This tribe lives in Kenya and they are amazing!!! They have a long history. They have their own culture; which consists of food, clothing, language religion, art, music, philosophy, politics, and cinema. The first president of Kenya was from this tribe. There are many famous people from this tribe.
History
The Kikuyu ancestors came to Kenya during the Bantu migrations. They founders of the this tribe were 10 daughters of Gikuyu and Mumbi. The families of the 10 daughters became 9 of them became clans; one of them became Kamba. The Kikuyu started of matriarchal than became patriarchal. This happened to several Bantu tribes. Some of their ancestors were the Thagicu; they're the biggest tribe in Kenya. They are related to the Kamba, Meru, Mbeere, and Embu.
The Mau Mau Rebellion was started by members of the Kikuyu tribe. A British man killed a cat that made the sound Mau. The cat was sacred to the Kikuyu. So, they rebelled against the British and got independence. Members of the Meru, Embu, Kamba, and Massassi tribes helped the Kikuyu fight the British too. During their struggle 4 liberation a lot of them were put in concentration camps, and many of them died as a result.
Culture
Language: Kikuyu has 4 dialects. It has a high and low tone. The sentence structure is subject-verb-object. Nouns come b4 adjectives. To write they use a latin alphabet. They also speak Kiswihili.
Music, Dances, and Art: Their music is polyrhythmic and it consist of drumming, singing, and humming. Gourd, rattles, guitar, and harps are also used in music. They like gospel and secular music and they created a bark flute. A lot of their songs tell stories and they love riddles and poems; and they have a riddle poem game. They have a warrior dance, love dance, rites of passage dances, welcome dances, possession dances, etc. They are good @ creating statues and shields. There are different designs 4 face paint, which may indicate marriage, socioeconomic status, mariika, etc.
Religion: This religion is monotheistic. The Meru, Kamba, and Embu worship the same God as the Kikuyu. The Meru call him Murungu and the Embu call him Mulungu. Ngai cannot be seen. The sycamore tree, fig tree, and olive tree are sacred. When Ngai comes to Earth he rest in Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Philosophy: They understand the universe was created by invisible forces. These forces come from Ngai. Ancestors are connection to Ngai. Everything as sum lifeforce in it and is interconnected. Humans have the most lifeforce on earth. Ancestors reincarnate as babies of there descendants. The king or queen has the most lifeforce, so they reconnect society to Ngai. The job of the ruler is uphold Maat.
Politics: They had age sets called mariika, which remind me of the Oromo and the Maasai. Periodically boys were initiated into manhood. Girls were initiated every periodically as well. Boys were circumcised during initiations. Girls were been exocised. The ceremony was called Irua. Boys were taught by their fathers and girls was taught by mothers. The people within mariika were closely bonded. There were rites of passage 4 different stages of life. They were ruled by a 2 council of elders. A male councial and a female council.
Clothings: Each mariika has their own style of clothing. The young wear skins around their waist and nothing on their upper body. Men dress similar to the young, but they wear more clothes when it is cold. Women wear clothes to cover their whole body.
Food: They like corn, beans, green peas, potatoes, goat, beef, chicken, collard greens, spinach, and carrots. They cook the food in pots and eat it on wooden plates. They grow food in their garden and trade with their neighbors. The Maasai and the Kikuyu are great friends and family!!!!
Wedding: When a man wanted to marry a woman, he would bring her father a dowry. Then his parents would meet the woman he wants to marry parents. After that there is a meal where the families negotiate. Women come to the bride's house singing and they bring gifts. The groom has pick out wife in a group of women dressed the same. If he get it wrong he has to pay her. They eat goat ears together, which represents listening to each other.
Cinema: In the 21th century they started to make their own movies. They have created comedy series and channels. There are channels in their language. They are a very creative people.
First President
Jomo Kenyatta was the first president of Kenya. He was a freedom fighter. When he was child he taught the ways of his people and he helped his grandfather heal people. The missionaries helped the Kikuya read and write and helped them medically. But they tried to get rid of their culture. He went to boarding school and became a Christian. He also became a carpenter and went through Irua. He became a African nationalist. He believed in freedom, dignity, tolerance, and peace 4 all of humanity. He was/is loved by Africans, Asians, and Europeans!!!
Famous People
Wangari Maathai: First African woman to get the Nobel Peace Prize. She was a political activist and environmentalist. She was pro-democracy. She met Obama when he senator.
Ng'endo Mwangi: She was the first Kenyan lady doctor. She founded a medical center in 1987.
Helen Gichohi: She's the president of the African Wildlife Federation.
Michael Ndurumo: Professor @ University of Nairobi. Third deaf African person to get a Phd.
There are many other famous Kikuyu people, but this will suffice.
Conclusion
This is my favorite tribe in Kenya!!! Writing about them have given me so much joy. They have long rich colorful history. They have great culture and many famous people. The first president of Kenya was amazing!!
